80's Commercials Vol. 151 - dog toys

80's Commercials Vol. 151

These commercials aired on CBS on September 19th, 1987. 1. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper 2. Nerf Indoor Golf (I used to do stuff like this around the house with whatever I could find) 3. Nerf Ping Pong 4. Lucky Charms (This is definitely one of my favorites) 5. Hershey's Kisses (I totally remember this jingle) 6. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers 7. Rice Krispies 8. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper 9. CBS Station ID 10. CBS Spirit (So much cheeese) 11. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers 12. Spectra (This might be my favorite girl toy commercial ever. EARTH PARTY! What's up with the scary robot dog on wheels though?) 13. Apple Jacks (Ay! Give me my usual breakfast treat!) 14. Promo for "Teen Wolf" (Not enough dancing on top of moving vans or werewolf basketball action for my taste) 15. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumpers 16. McDonald's (I completely forgot about the yellow box that Chicken McNuggets came in back then) 17. Cocoa Pebbles 18. Aquafresh For Kids (The voice of "Pumpman" is awful and hilarious) 19. CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper

  1. I'm old enough to remember when there were only "pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, and green clovers." :)

That's what my creepy next door neighbor told me.

  6. I liked the Apple Jacks commercial @ 3:36. Cheezy as hell but cute. Like a little dance production number. Why don't they still make those?

  7. What the hell? Teen Wolf is awesome.

  8. What creeps me out the most about Spectra dolls (and it's a Loooong list) is that they have normal-skin heads/faces on their shiny "metal" bodies. This is just so disturbing to me!
I never even saw these as a kid, they were out for like five minutes.

I wasted a lot of toothpaste trying to make that perfect Aquafresh curl.

  11. It's too bad that Lucky Charms and Pebbles are made by two different companies. Lucky going back in time just screams crossover.

I'm kind of amused that the CBS Spirit (excuse me, CBSpirit) ad had a number of actors from shows that kids shouldn't have been watching.

So Mattel stuck a pink hairdo on Barbie and sold it as a completely separate toy line? Considering I've never heard of Spectra, I'm guessing it didn't go so well.

What exactly was McNuggets boy tripping on?

  16. In that McDonald's "Doodlin" ad, I actually used to think those were donut holes that the drawing was eating and offered to Brian. I was only like 7 when that commercial aired so I couldn't read what it said on the box and I usually don't order chicken nuggets at McDonald's, I'm more of a burger person.

  17. Personally, the bumpers are just as good and memorable as the commercials.

  18. I HAD Nerf Indoor Golf! Coolest idea ever, set up holes anywhere in the house!

CBSpirit, OH YES! 1987 network image campaigns were great!

  22. It's sad how increasingly commercials found in kids blocks even are INFOMERCIALS. To me infomercials are to TV commercials to what Reality is to TV Shows to what Gangsta Hip Hop is to music.

  23. That Hershey's Kisses commericial LOL. That song was SO Randy Newman inspired. Gawd, I never realized how bombarded with sugared cereal commercials we were back then. Now wonder I would bug the crap outta my mom to buy that crap, whenever we went to Raley's, lol. And that Petra doll, WTF?. What? Was she burned in some type of Anakin Skywalker type battle? Why wud you need metallic silver skin. Some of those toys back then were just dusturbing. lol

  24. I have the CBS Saturday Rocks Bumper for all these cartoons on tape all the way from July 1988 and I'm loving it. That VHS tape inspired me and mentored me to be a Sat AM advertiser.
