Teaching Leap Frog- clicker dog training

Teaching Leap Frog- clicker dog training - training a dog

Teaching Leap Frog- clicker dog training

This short tutorial goes over the basics of how to teach your dogs to play leap frog. You can be as creative as you want to be with this trick, but remember to keep your DOGS interests and SAFETY in mind!!!! Dogs under 2 years old should NOT play this game- as dogs under 2 years should not jump repetitively higher than 2 inches.

  4. Thanks for this! I've sort of tried to teach my dogs this, but was having a bit of trouble knowing how until I saw this. I've been looking for a treat pouch and saw the one you were using, online (the pet stores around her don't seem to sell treat pouches). Wasn't sure if it was what I wanted, but it looks like what I want, so thanks again!

  6. I know that Emily has several different ones, and I have one of the pouches that she has. You can get one at my outward hound dot com
They have a ton of different pouches, treat bags, and even backpacks for dogs!
    Hope I helped!

You should post a video of the two doing leap-frog (or attempting anyway)!

  10. What a great video, I'm going to try this with my 2 dogs. It's also a good way to exercise the dogs without putting out much effort :-).

  13. I see you watched my video. Yup, I got right on that one. Not sure if the lab will jump over a standing mastiff. He certainly has the spring to do it, but he might think that it isn't the wisest activity. I wish I had a couple of ramps so he could do an Evil Knievel.

  15. Are you going to do a little intro video for your newest addition like you did for Tug? :) Lovely doggie. That is a cute trick! I love the idea of teaching a dog to do leap frog like I learned growing up, where you jump over all your friends and then take your place at the end of the line to be jumped over. If I ever have a gaggle of kids handy... ;)

  16. Thanks for that! I have been working with over / under with my lab and mastiff, but seeing the big dog laying down with a treat and the little dog being lured over really helped me understand how to do the foundation exercises.

  17. Cool. I had two dogs before but they both died (cancer and diabetes... I miss them ;( ).
If I've seen this before I sure would've wanted to teach 'em... well I was actually too young but whatever.
