Good question.. All of my dogs skateboard very fast and for long periods of time, when I change the grip tape I use something flat like a ruler and scrape the tape so it would not be so rough but other than that no problems at all, then again these dogs are athletes and have developed strong pads.. Thanks
Do you run into the problem of the grip tape sanding off some of your dogs paws I am designing new grip tape thats safe for paws. I will let you know how my dogs skateboard lines coming along on facebook.
Great tutorial! All of my bulldogs have been obsessed with the skateboarded and have taken to it very quickly--though we do all sorts of other tricks and they don't get a lot of time to practice their skills. The biggest problem is keeping them calm around the board, and this method is a great way to do that (I use food rewards, too)
Hi, I'm thinking of training one of my dogs to skate, which dog should I train? A shih-tzu boy who has recently turned 2, or a 5 year old west-highland terrier? The shih-tzu is quite nervous but curious and the westie is confident and assertive? Please get back as I want to start ASAP. :)
Thank you for these two videos! I have just started training my portuguese water dog to skateboard. So far she likes it ... she uses two front paws so far but I can see that she is picking up one rear paw as if she wants to put it on the board, so I think she will figure it out soon. Your video has lots of very good tips and instructions that will help us a lot. Thank you for being so clear and describing all the step so carefully. Details matter!
These videos are amazing! I can't wait to try to teach my dog this. He's a brilliant Staffie-Cross breed. He loves to perform tricks and I know he's got the perfect i-want-to-impress-people type of personality for him to learn this trick. Thanks so much for uploading them, your dogs are brilliant, but obviously because you've trained them that way. I want to congratulate you on your obvious skills as a trainer.
your remind me of Cesar Millan lol...sorry
