How to teach any dog to FETCH!
This is one in a series of dog training tutorials that I have made. Clicker training is demonstrated in this video - but not fully explained. See my video on MOTIVATION for a more detailed explanation of using clickers and treats in training. For an ALTERNATE approach to teaching your dog to hold objects, check out this video: www.youtube.com If you have questions about anything related to this video, let me know in the comments section and I will reply as soon as I can. Remember to subscribe to my channel if you want to see more videos like this that I upload weekly. Thank you for watching and have a nice day.

How to communicate with a dog in their own language- dog training dog communication
In no way do I condone pestering a dog in order to make them offer calming signals for you to see. I kissed Kiko on the head in this video to show you something that dogs HATE that is often done to them, not that I want to condone it! ☺ Dogs bite. You should never put your face in a dogs face. Calming signals can be offered when you are standing or sitting, I was very close to Splash at one point in this video because it was hard to fit us in the video screen, and Splash is very comfortable with me being that close to her face. Never lean into a dogs face in order to communicate with them! Its Threatening! This video is about the secret language of dogs. Some of you might already know about Calming Signals, but the main population that find out about dog training through Television programs might not. In this video I will show you how you can use your dogs own language to communicate with them. I will also show you how to interpret your dogs language. Turid Rugaas is an internationally renowned dog trainer who has studied and researched calming signals for over a decade! You can visit her site on calming signals to learn more AND PICK UP ONE OF HER BOOKS AND DVDS on the subject. www.canis.no I also have to say that Turid Rugaas has the best leash walking book out there. My dog pulls-What do I do? I am eternally grateful to Turid for giving me the ability to be able to talk with my dogs in their own language. Here are the main calming signals that I like to use with dogs ...
Wait, so you click it right when she picks it up but you also click it when you want her to drop it? I'm confused.
ReplyDeletewhat do you use as treat?
ReplyDeletei really dunno what i can use
you are the best dog trainer! awesome!
ReplyDeletealso eventually you will be able to do fetch without treats as the reward is throwing the ball again
ReplyDeleteawwh well heres how i kinda taught my dog to play fetch. first i try to make him interested in the ball or whatever and then i throw the ball and once he has it in his mouth i call him over and i trade the ball for a treat :) maybe try that make him really want the ball
ReplyDeletei tried penutbutter, he just licks it off. i tried several toys. he has never really played with toys, alway people. he wont even take a bone from my hand, i have to put it on the ground and walk away. ill try a chew stick
ReplyDeletetry putting a bit of peanut butter on it?
ReplyDeletesurely he grabs something with his mouth at some point? a dogs mouth is his hand.
Maybe try it with a chew stick? then when he starts to get the idea, quickly start doing the same thing with a toy/ball/rope?
My dog Pixel listens to basic commands thanks to you. (He's a Jack Russell).
ReplyDeleteI haven't even bought a clicker yet, but I intend to!!

ReplyDeleteI love your vids I have a 1 yr old morkie and sometimes I just do not now what he is doing but this is a great headsup.. thanks!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThe end of your video was adorable, made my day!
ReplyDeleteSplash is probably the most beautiful dog I've ever seen. Looks like he's straight out of some fable. Rough coated collies look so great but I don't think I could eveer handle the shedding; gotta go with that soft coat.
ReplyDeleteThat depends on the situation. The dog can be acting calming signals to calm YOU down or in the real way where the dog is actually calm. Dogs are actors too.
ReplyDeletei think she meant it depends on situation... good shit what does it mean when my boy get a "woody" when i pet him lol?usually massage his back. im a dude hes my lil man
ReplyDeletewhen dogs yawn that means they dont like what your doing to them...........
ReplyDelete"Do you wanna communicate with other human beings?"
ReplyDelete"No."
Sorry, I'm confused. So do calming signals mean a dog is irritated or a dog is relaxed?
ReplyDeleteYou said that they mean to please leave me alone, but you also said they mean I am content?
5:00 ''wutchu talkin bout willis?''
ReplyDeleteim only nin eand i train me dog to play dead roll over sit and sing and ride skate bourd oh and clean his own dish and bark when i tell him to and attack when i tell him to
ReplyDeleteFine video, I knew of these as stress indicators, not calming signals. I can't wait to try these out with Rose, my lurcher.
ReplyDeleteThis was very interesting. Ive been watching your videos since we recently got a new pup. It's really nice to see you with your dogs in the bloopers! I think you should do more!
ReplyDeleteSo they offer CS to tell you that what you are doing is stressing them out?
ReplyDeleteDogs are so awesome. Good job on video . This helped me out alot.
ReplyDeleteright, your dog knows your not a dog, so when your sniffing the floor and lifting you arm they're just like 'yeah, my owners a crazy bitch'.
ReplyDeleteOMG It actually works. Now I know what my dogs are thinking
ReplyDeleterock and roll dog cool dog
ReplyDelete1:20 tht explains why my dog bit me in the face :P
ReplyDeleteI also like Turid Rugaas. I was so lucky that I was going to dog trainer school at her school, but unfortunately I didn't have the money for it yet. Hopefully I will next year!
ReplyDeleteGreat job! You are helping my dog and I get along much better after 6 years.
