Dog Training Tutorial: Off-Leash Exercise (Send-Off)

Dog Training Tutorial: Off-Leash Exercise (Send-Off) - training a dog

Dog Training Tutorial: Off-Leash Exercise (Send-Off)

A big part of teaching a dog to be reliable off the leash is about engaging them in a variety of games and exercises around distractions. Today's video demonstrates another one of the many exercises that I often use. This particular cue can be used to actually teach a dog a lot of different things, and I'll go over them in the next few videos. The most effective way to develop the level of enthusiasm shown here comes from short and energetic training sessions over time. A good tip to keep in mind is to quit while the dog is successful and before they start to lose interest.

Clicker Training Dog Agility Teeter Totter - training a dog

Clicker Training Dog Agility Teeter Totter

Learn how to shape your dog to safely and confidently do the teeter totter (and other contact obstacles) for the dog sport of agility. Donna & Jessie show you how. This method is not for top agility competitors concerned about speed. I am more focussed on the fact that Jessie is confident in doing the teeter.

I actually got a jam container lid. I think its aluminium, and I make a small dent in the middle (you might not have to do that) and that makes a very similar noise to a clicker, yet its extremely cheap :) TRY IT :D

  7. My dog won't touch the object with her nose - instead she's just sniffing around for the treat. I tried to touch it to her nose for her, rewarding with "yes" and a treat, and she still didn't get it.

  8. We have a really big issue with one of our dogs being too crazy about getting the treats than learning the exercise. I've tried hiding them behind me and a few other things, but she seems to be too crazy to train. Any tips?

  33. Great tips!! My Papillon and Peruvian hairless dog both learned the see-saw very easily. They didnt need anything underneath the bord or anything. i just started of with the plank and started putting bigger and biger thing underneath until we got up to the see-saw. they are both very good!!!
